Back in Oahu
It was good to back in Oahu this past week. We just launched a strategic planning process for La Pietra – Hawai‘i School for Girls — over the past month. I had the opportunity to get on campus and experience the place and culture of the school. It is an absolutely special place, one that drips of history, heritage and consequence. Located at the base of Diamond Head, it is located on an historic estate that provides among the most distinctive all girls learning environments I have experienced.
Here’s a little more about La Pietra.
Established in 1964, La Pietra – Hawai‘i School for Girls was the vision of a small group of forward thinking-women. They believed that girls in Hawaii would thrive in a school built just for them. More than 50 years later, La Pietra continues to be a place where young women flourish in a supportive community valuing each girl’s journey toward purpose, passion, confidence, and success that they themselves define.
Independent schools are older than statehood in Hawaii. Honolulu specifically enjoys a very mature, established ecosystem of independent and private schools, deeply connected to the fabric of communities and families they serve.
La Pietra – Hawai‘i School for Girls joins a longtime commitment we have had to both the Hawaiian islands and all girls schools. We have worked with schools and colleges in the islands for over 20 years, as well as worked to advance the strategies of girls schools in many areas of the US and beyond. It was so good to get back to the islands and reconnect with some lifelong colleagues, as well as advance a heritage and cause that means much to us. Aloha and Mahalo Nui Loa to the folks at La Pietra. We have exciting work in front of us.
